Colleagues,
The University of Wisconsin–Madison is expecting a packed house at Camp Randall Stadium on Friday, August 30, as the Badgers football team kicks off their season at 8 p.m. against the Western Michigan Broncos.
With 80,000 fans expected in Madison and on campus for the game, Transportation Services and the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics are taking steps to minimize disruption to normal weekday campus operations. To support these efforts, employees should consider other work and travel options that day if possible. If these options are not already agreed upon in an active remote work agreement or alternative work schedule, employees should discuss them with and receive approval from their supervisor.
Parking on campus: All permit holders will have access to their designated lots until at least 5 p.m. on game day. After 5 p.m., most lots will be reserved for event parking only and some will be available only for work-related purposes. Transportation Services will email permit holders about specific parking impacts and share a list of affected lots and alternative options on its website.
Alternative transportation: Employees who plan to travel to campus on game day may consider alternative options like Madison Metro buses, carpooling, or biking. The Transportation Services Commuter Solutions team (tdm@fpm.wisc.edu) can assist with personalized commute planning.
Flexible work schedules: Where possible, supervisors are encouraged to approve flexible work arrangements for employees on game day while ensuring efficient and effective departmental operations. This could include telecommuting or an alternative work schedule but should not adversely affect service to the University community or the public.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation as we look ahead to another great academic year and an exciting football season.
